  • 85 CRX, torsion bar question...

So I have been handed a temporarily a 1985 honda crx that is 100% stock. It was my brothers car but he moved back to Fullerton for school and decided not to take his car. I have been driving it 2-3 days a week to save on gas in the e28 hog.

I picked up some generic coilover sleeves for the rear, need to order a longer spring and that will be that.

I am not super familiar with torsion bars, but I do have the basic idea of how they work etc. I want to lower the front beyond the abilities of the adjuster screw. I have read the adjuster screw is good for less than an inch total and I looking for closer to 3" lower. I do plan on getting larger diameter bars to work with the rear coils but I wanna get it LOW too.

Any advice from guys with torsion bars or a link to some helpful info? Thanks in advance!

Re-key the stock torsion bar to move the adjustment lower, or use re-keyed 1st Gen Integra torsion bars if you want to go stiffer.

Red Pepper Racing is all about the 1G Integra and CRX/3G Civic. You'll find a cache of info there, as there are a LOT of autocrossers and track drivers on there.

Thanks for the info! I came across an integra write up for re-keying the bars. I had read about the integra bars being stiffer too but If I am gonna replace them I will probably go aftermarket and get them nice and thick lol
