Hmmm. any personal preferences for jacks, jack stands? lookin for something dependable

Any reputable company will do fine. I have some that I think are Craftsman but they work just fine. You could probably just go to Harbor Freight or something and pick some up for cheap. Just make sure you get some that can support the weight of your car.

I've always had good luck with the Harbor Freight aluminum low-pro jacks. I've jacked up my F150 and one side of a 30' enclosed trailer with one before [which in retrospect was probably pushing its' limits] without issue. And usually they can be had for under $100, so cheap too.

I had a Craftsman super-low-pro jack in Albuquerque, but I can't for the life of me remember the series or model. Only stood 2" high from the floor to the jack pad, I could get it under just about ANYTHING.
