  • E30 Oil Pan Question !

    Hey StanceWOrks !

I have a E30 that is really low But as i am a low fanatic need to take it lower ! I still have a problem!

My oil pan is 3cm from the ground so going lower will not be possible !

Installing a Skid PLade will not help as i will scrape it !

I was thinking of putting higher the Engine , with washers of smeth like this !

Would this be possible/safe ?! As the drive shaft is horizontal ?!

    BEST , Johnny !

I would still put a skid plate in there!

I've read a thread somewhere on here that included some info on raising up the motor an inch or so not a ton but enough to help out.

    Sorry for not remembering where.

But skid plates do help. I scrape every few seconds on tiny bumps without that skid plate there would be no oil pan haha.

    Good luck,

    - GBS

SKid plates are really low ! I mean how they are made are really low ! i will have to do a custom one if i will raise the engine up ! I was thinking of getting some new enigine mounts and install some whashers on them , put the engine up 3-4 cm not more , that way i can lower my front 2-3 cm , and put the skid plate !

Anybody did the engine rise with washers ?!

i had this problem with my m42 in my e30, the oil pan dropping below the sub frame has got to be their biggest design flaw ever in a bmw lol, but i hit a bump on a bridge in the dark and it put a huge crack in the front sump. the metal is just to rigid and has no flex so even scraping a little can equal death. itd honestly be easier to swap to an m50 (if the above is the problem youre having) its inexpensive and everything bolts right up the same, trans and all, youd just need an adapter for main wiring harness plug up by the fire wall and thats still easy to get ahold of. almost no real work needed and simple as hell

          Got it fixed !

Got new engine mounts ! Some screws that fit on the engine mounts and put the engine like 3-4 cm higher ! Nearly under the direction !

Have you seen the 325ix e30 oil pans...theyre hard to track down because the axle to put the power to the front wheels goes through the pan!!
