E39 Steering wheel swap older > new.

Im in the process of purchasing my next BMW. It has this style of wheel fitted with all the stereo and cruise control buttons..



..and I would like to replace it with this later style of wheel.



Do the two styles have the same plug connectors for the electric buttons/air bag etc? I would get one off an e39 too so I can ensure the splines will match. But i need advice on the electrical side.

Yup knew that but the style is the same, and probably fitment.
