with these i would recommend buying new hardware. you need new seals anyway as you have the old style. new seals are 45$ per wheels. also new bolts are very cheap for these rims as you replace every time you disassemble. there are 11$ per rim for new bolts and washers.
Here is the 9.5" wheel on the front of a mk4 with R32 brakes and a 20mm adapter. There was about a 5mm gap between the strut and the inside of the wheel.
