  • FS: S38B36/getrag 280

Up for sale is a running and driving s38b36 engine and getrag 280 transmission from a wrecked 1991 m5 I picked up a few weeks ago. The engine has 110k miles on it since it was rebuilt in 2004, at a cost of $14k (documentation verifying work performed). Compression numbers are 185-195 across the board on a stone cold engine. Runs and drives great, pulls extremely hard, no funny noises or misfires. It does have an oil leak from the front of the engine, I'm guessing valve cover or timing cover gasket, and the power steering pump is seized so there's no belt on it currently. Has a Turner chip installed in the ECU. Trans shifts well, no grinds or anything, has a UUC short shifter installed. Clutch feels great, engages smoothly and doesn't slip whatsoever.

Asking $4200 OBO for the COMPLETE engine/trans setup (engine/harness/accessories/ECU/trans/clutch/pressure plate/flywheel/etc.)

The engine/trans is still currently in the car and can be seen/heard/driven if you'd like. I'd prefer to have a buyer lined up before I pull it if possible. Once a buyer is lined up, I'll request a deposit and can then have everything pulled in a day or two after.

Located in Ephrata, PA 17522. Delivery can be arranged within a few hour radius.

    Thanks for looking,
