Hey everyone, posting this as more of a feeler than anything else, been toying with the idea of selling my 528e and picking up an na miata soon. I haven't owned the car for very long, only about 6 months, but it's not my first 80's bmw.
Bought the car from an elderly italian dude who had owned it for the last ten years. It needed paint and had some rust around the rear right corner panel, which i fixed and then got the whole car resprayed "Marrakech brown" which is a bmw color they use on the x1 and x3. Paint itsn't fantastic, it's a fairly in expencive job and still needs to be wet sanded. complete color change except for the engine bay (door jams and trunk are done.)
Mechanically the car has given me no problems since I've owned it. It was not starting for a little bit this week, and i realized i wasnt getting any gas to the motor, so i replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter, only to realize that the problem was with my intake being disconnected slightly after the MAF, throwing the ECU off. The motor was completely rebuilt about 10k miles ago (new belts all around, water pump and all) by the previous owner who was a bmw hoarder haha. It's on 80% tread tires, on some old 7-series wheels that are completely mint.
Interior is 7/10. back seats are completely mint, tearing though in the front passenger seat (slight, nothing major) and some wear in the drivers side seat where your left elbow his the seat normally. Electrics all work except for the drivers side window, which is up and i believe just needs a regulator. Sun roof works as well.
When i had it repainted and the rust cleaned up, i also put on a new front valance. It's a 5 speed, shifts smoothly and brakes well too (drilled and slotted rotors were put on for some reason, red break calipers too, so more hp i assume).
The only problem with the car is that the trunk does leak in heavy rain. There is a rust spot in the right corner of the trunk seal area and it has affected it in a way that it is no longer water tight. It's only really bad if it's raining heavily, and everytime it's happened i've water vacuumed it out immediately so it doesnt smell or anything.
if you have any questions at all text me at (813) 373-0344 or pm me or just comment. names, Will.
