1981 BMW 528i 5-speed.
With 178,000 original miles, this car is in fantastic shape. The car remained with the first owner for 32 years, always garaged and maintained such that rust and mechanical neglect were never an issue.
Body - Extremely solid absolutely rust free example, the benefits of being garaged its whole life. The paint has been cared for very well, it does however have a few door dings and scratches (see pics).
Interior- Overall very, very clean. The seats had covers on them from day one so the leather is in great shape, but the drivers seat has a couple splits in the seams (see pics). The dash is cracked in a few places from sun damage, the carpet on the drivers side is stained from what looks like a past leaking heater core.
Mechanical- Since I purchased the car I have put 1500 miles on it. When purchased, the car it had a slightly leaking head gasket. The gasket has been replaced, also, the A/C charged which has been converted to R134, tinted the windows, upgraded to completely refinished 16" (740 BMW) wheels and tires, and lowered it about 2.5".
Notes-
I have documented the worst areas of the car with pictures, but let me assure you this car is in great condition, it shows like what it is, a 32 year old daily driver for an older female elementary school teacher. The car came with over $16,000 (from the last 32 years) in maintenance receipts from a very reputable BMW service center here in Boise. The previous owner purchased it at the BMW dealer in Boise, it has been in this dry climate ever since. Everything works including the power door locks and windows. I am using it as a daily driver and it averages 22 mpg, in mixed driving.
