  • FS: D2 A8 Project Black/Ecru (Ithaca, NY) $3750.obo/trade

PRICE IS NOW $1500.00 CASH stock wheels, no front bumper!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, my overwhelming desire to finish my drift car has driven me to sell my treasured D2 A8.

    Basic Info:
    -11/97 (so a MY 1998) Audi A8
    -Mileage: 184,xxx
    -Interior: Tan / "Ecru"
    -Engine: 4.2l 32v, V8 (300 horse /300 torque)
-Transmission: 5 speed Tiptronic with slap shift as well as Quattro permanent all wheel drive

    Modifications:
    -Euro Clear Corners
-Modified S8 struts up front and shortened S8 springs with S8 struts out back (Ride is firm, but decent)
    -Muffler Removed
-Rear fenders PULLED to fit the wheels
    -De-Badged decklid

    Maintenance:
    -New MAF
-New inner busching front right lower control arm
-Coolant Pipe Replaced (common D2 failure)
    -Fresh tranny fluid/ filter/gasket/o-ring

    Issues (Full Disclosure):
-Drivers Side Fender is "Baconed" from how far i pulled the fender to fit the wheel
-Rear bumper has a small piece missing from the right
-Check engine light for Idle Lower Limit
-Transmission now in and out of limp mode (Locks into 4th gear, N or Reverse)

Every bone in my body is telling me to 6 speed swap the car and be a boss, but drift season is in full swing, and my drift car needs a little more love to be track ready.

All this being said, Yes, the car is drive-able (in limp mode, so best not to drive it 300 miles), yes, i can deliver it (we can negotiate, i have a truck an trailer)

Pick this bad boy up cheap...sort the last issues an have an awesome car for the rest of summer and show season...nothing would please me more than to see this car roll by at H2oi in the fall!!!!

Price can be negotiated if you are serious. Ive got about 1600 bucks into the wheels, tires and spacers so really im selling the car for $2150. plus wheels hahaha which is a fuckin joke for how much you get

This is a D2 A8, so all 4 heated seats, million way adjustable seats (can even program the seat position to the fob!) Power rear sun shade, manual rear door sun shades, Bose Stereo..and on and on. It is Audi's first all aluminium monocoque chassis! Yep, the entire body and chassis are aluminium, NO RUST EVER!!!

As far as trades go, im looking to get a minimum of $1000.00 cash value and the rest can be a trade for another project....mk2's, old bmw' welcome. If it tickles my fancy i may work a trade with ou!

Feel free to request additional pics or ask questions, I want the car to go to a good home where it will see the streets boss status once again.

    on to the pics!

here is a picture of the crack.

Wish I had the money for this, I've always wanted one and the muffler delete sounds amazing. If you would trade for a set of HRE's in 5x120 bolt pattern we could work something out maybe.

If i didn't just have a baby id be on my way out there.

question : is the trans issue mechanically or electrically related?

                      Answer:

When i did the trans fluid flush, the fluid looked old, but was not entirely full of clutch disks and metal shavings. This leads me to believe, that it is electrical, additionally, looking into the ecu box, and looking at the TCU, it looks like it has never been wet. So im sort of wondering if the electrical connection to the tranny (under the car simply needs to be cleaned) which is next on my to do list on this car.

Why do you ask? any suggestions?

Well i was mainly wondering for everyone elses sake. I was unsure if it was a common problem for higher mileage audi's. Sounds like it isn't

these cars came with ZF transmissions, which as with all ZF transmissions, without proper changing of the fluid, they can be prone to failure.

Audi determined that the fluid and filter were lifetime (never changed) parts so may of these had issues.

though this one may be a contact issues.
