I'm selling my 1988 535i (automatic, alpine white, cardinal red). I purchased it from the original owner around October 2008 with 87k miles. Since then I've put approximately 30k miles (117k). The odometer broke at 106k. I'm selling it because I don't have the time to enjoy it anymore. It spends most of its day and night in a garage. It was my primary vehicle the first two years until I bought another car and this became a weekend driver. The car is not perfect but drives and looks great. A description and maintenance summary are below. I have the original invoice with options purchased, two keys, owner and service manuals.

I'm asking $4,500 obo. Local sale only. Located in Northern VA. Send me a PM.

The original paint shines nicely and is not faded. No door dings or scratches. The dashboard has 3 minor cracks in the usual places (roughly .25 to .50 inch). The leather seats are in good condition with no rips. A/C and heat work fine. No issues with the transmission. The sunroof operates fine and has no leaks.

There's a rust hole in the trunk near the spare wheel with a temporary fix. There's also rust on the rear valence where the US bumper shock use to sit and two small rust spots on the corner of the trunk lid. In addition, I believe rust is forming on the rockers.

Initial startup is a little rough but smooth’s out fairly quickly and idles normal.

Someone backed into the passenger side of the hood which left some dents. Nothing severe but it's there.

There's a very small leak near the front of the car which is either power steering/transmission fluid. The leak hasn’t caused any issues for me so far. I haven't had the time to investigate it further or take it to my mechanic.

Below is a list of maintenance/repairs I've done since ownership. Everything was replaced with new OEM parts. I have all the receipts for work done by a shop and if there isn't a receipt then the work was done by me. I may have left some repairs out but I think I captured the big ticket items.

Wow. Beautiful. I always disliked the red...but then I've never seen it look that good. And I have to say...I love it. if not for the auto it would be perfect. Great price. Good luck with the sale.
