  • FS: 1996 BMW 328iC--Christmas present to You!

Selling, if my opinion of the price is reasonable, a 1996 BMW 328i convertible, 138K miles, with included hardtop. Bought fifteen months ago with 119K miles and used it as my commuter last school year (about 80 mi/day). Haven’t driven it 1000 miles since this summer—we’ve been using my wife’s 2006 Infiniti M45 since she started working at the same school. Nearing sale of our house which will cut the commute to less than a mile and hoping to use the proceeds of the BMW sale to invest in a Triumph Bonneville (no trades, though). $5500 OBO cash only. Serious offers/inquiries sent to Stance Works can have everything I know about the car, where I am located (other than central KY) to come look at it, take a drive (with me sitting in the passenger seat), additional pictures, pretty much whatever’s reasonable—I think it would make someone an excellent car, as-is or as the basis for a butt-kicking car show beauty.
    The good:
-Runs like a top—just a pleasure. Six-cyl. Engine runs through all 5 gears smoothly and powerfully. AC, heater super good
-Speaking of top: original BMW matching color hardtop, with rolling rack (which folds for hanging on garage wall) and cover for storage, both for the hardtop and the car when the top is removed
-Very clean body, as seen in the pictures, but check the third “not-so-good”
-Leather in good/very good shape—some wear at entry point for driver about only issue
-New receiver/CD/DVD (no monitors) installed, wired for XM (receiver doesn't go with car) but original BMW trip computer still there and fully functional (with all manuals to satisfy your curiosity on how to make the darn thing work)
-All the original “toys” still included: manuals, glovebox flashlight, trunk toolkit, two smartkey/remote fob combos
    -New (<5K) tires
    Now for the not-so-good:
-ABS/Traction control sensor warning lights come on intermittently, but now more often than not—a frequently cited problem with this model
-Oil pan gasket “probably needs replacing”—quote from last oil change
-You can see a little rust in the far left of the “trunk” picture, but the car has a clean Carfax—I still think a previous owner had a(n) (minor) accident/fender bender (I’m going to insert here that the person I bought it from of course had no idea of this, so of course was not misleading me when he told me it had never been in an accident :-\ )
-Passenger side fog lamp assembly does need replacing
-Soft top has a rough place at the driver’s side rear window which will require a professional’s attention
-Trim pieces that are to be put in place by hand (?) after taking hard top off to cover the rear mounting holes (about 8 cm x 4 cm) have been lost/those provided by previous owner don’t fit/I’m not able to make them fit (but I’m not the most mechanical person, so maybe you can)
-When mechanic fixed “automatic all-four window up/down” function, got a wire crossed and now the passenger/driver rearview mirror switch is reversed, as well as up/down and left/right—I’m assuming since they’re all switched, it’s probably a single fix
