  • FS: 2000 BMW 740i Sport Cosmos on Black in PA

I think it's time to put an end to this journey, and move onto the next project(s). I've owned this car for almost a year, and it has given me literally ZERO problems. I'll most likely regret letting this one go as it'll be almost impossible to find one this well-sorted, but I'll have to live with it. Anyway, onto the specs and pictures...

    2000 BMW 740i Sport
    181,xxx miles
    Inspected until 7/13 in PA
Cosmos Black with REALLY nice Black leather interior (recently redid the headliner and pillars in black, was originally gray)
FK Silverline Coilovers (~1,500 miles on them) Sway bar links and all strut/shock mounts replaced at time of install as well
    19x9.5 & 19x11 Varrstoen ES112 (~1,000 miles on them)
235/35/19 front and 265/30/19 rear (tires are over 50% tread front and rear, no new pictures of current rear tire size)
    30mm spacers all around
    Alpina replica front lip
    Color-matched lowers
    6 disc w/navigation
Ice cold A/C, hot heat. Heated seats work amazing
Mufflers have been removed (Done professionally and have retained the factory turn-down tips, not simply hacked off and left dumping under the car)
    Trans rebuilt at 120k
    Cooling system has been overhauled
All suspension bushings have been replaced
    Both cam sensors replaced
    Intake manifold gaskets replaced
    Both rear window regulators replaced
(Almost) new Pads and Rotors all around
Car doesn't burn any fluids whatsoever, have yet had to add a single drop of oil between the two oil changes I've performed so far (Car has always had synthetic oil FWIW)
There's a TON of other things I'm forgetting at the moment, I'll add them as I remember them

    A few fairly recent pics...

I have a bunch of interior and engine bay pictures on my phone I'd be more than willing to text for now. I'll work on trying to take some with my camera and posted them in this thread.

    Cons of the car:
    - Sunroof doesn't work properly. I noticed this when I reinstalled the headliner and haven't had the desire to pull the headliner back out to check it out more. But, the sunroof retracted properly when I moved it to remove the headliner. After installing the headliner, the sunroof closed fine. Then, I tilted it to the "vent" position and when I went to close it, it wouldn't move. I closed it manually at the motor and used the button to open it back to the vent position in an attempt to see if it'd close on its own again but to no avail. I closed it manually again and haven't touched it since.
    - The roll job on the rear 1/4's isn't the prettiest thing in the world. I was told a PDR guy could probably make them look a lot better but it hasn't bothered me enough to further pursue it at this point as I was happy with the fitment and the fact that it doesn't rub. I'll get detailed pics of both rear arches.
    - The car is low (which is a con for some). I daily drove the car at this height (before I bought my Tahoe) for a few months and a couple thousand miles with no issues at all. Obviously, ground clearance is an issue, and the ride is quite a bit more firm than stock, but it looks great (in my opinion). That being said, the coilovers are adjustable and I still have the factory sport suspension.

It's a great, reliable, quick, and beautiful car all around. I don't HAVE to sell the car, and am slightly hesitant to, but if I can get what I want for it I'll let it go.

Asking price is $8500 or best REASONABLE offer.

Car is located in Ephrata, PA 17522. Myself and the car will be in Ocean City, MD this weekend from Friday to Monday (Sept. 28 - Oct. 1) for anyone interested in checking the car out or driving it.

I just got home from a 5 hour round trip, in which I thought going into it that the car was DEFINITELY sold (judging by the week and a half long text conversation and negotiating that took place). BUT, according to the (potential) buyer, turns out, the car was "too low", "too stanced", and the rear arches "need work". The original post very clearly states both of those issues, and the "buyer" found the car on "stanceworks". I am beyond frustrated. The (potential) buyer never once asked for detailed pictures of the arches, which I originally stated that I'd be more than willing to get (you'd think he'd want them since it was a make-or-break part of the deal for him). Interior pictures weren't even requested until after we agreed on a price!

That being said, the car is no longer for sale unless you have $8500 CASH and show up at my front door. I was hesitant to sell the car to begin with, I was SERIOUSLY second-guessing it last night as I cleaned the car up to send it down the road, and now I'm pretty set on just keeping it altogether.

I appreciate all of the kind words and interest expressed towards the car, I'd just rather keep it than deal with the hassle as of now.

                    Thanks again!

Wow. The internet is truly killing our society.

Funny how you wait to talk shit NOW when you had the opportunity today.... in person. I would have been happy to field the points of your disappointment on the spot, believe me.

Not one of your pictures depict the actual amount of damage that has been done to the rear fenders of that car to accommodate the 30MM of "poke" or whatever you were trying to achieve. The rear fenders of that car are, to put it mildly, fucked. All you said about the fenders was...

"The roll job on the rear 1/4's isn't the prettiest thing in the world. I was told a PDR guy could probably make them look a lot better but it hasn't bothered me enough to further pursue it at this point as I was happy with the fitment and the fact that it doesn't rub. I'll get detailed pics of both rear arches."

To me, that statement implies that the roll job maybe didn't turn out exactly as you would have hoped but was not to bad. What drove that point home was the fact that I have been staring at this for the last week...

Not even REMOTELY close to what I saw today. Today's reality was a bent up, creased up, hacked mess. The guy who did the "work" should be ashamed of himself. It would have cost me at least a grand to repair the rape that has been done to those fenders.

Maybe you should have actually provided those detailed pictures you mentioned because I assure you, no ones time would have been wasted today.

Also, the undercarriage scrapes driving down a flat road with the slightest deviation in the pavement. That was the second red flag because you yourself said you've daily driven the car over 1000 miles like that. With the first series of scrapes I asked "whats that?" You reply, "undercarriage plastic." With the second series of scrapes, you point out that it's the frame rails?!?! Seriously? You've been driving around scraping the frame rails on the ground for over 1000 miles? I know the car could have been raised but who knows how much damage has been done at this point.

You can't seriously expect to haggle on the internet, and that's it. There was no way I has just going to show up, hand you a wad of cash, and be on my way without checking the car out and driving it a little bit. Going into this, I thought all I was going to have to do is raise the car a couple of inches, fix the sunroof, and maybe put the correct size tires on the rear wheels. All of that was fine but when it crossed over into potential unseen undercarriage damage and body work, it was too far. I was pretty disappointed to have driven all that way for a car, just to end up coming home empty handed. I'm also sorry you were inconvenienced and I wish you all the luck in the world getting your $8500.

                          Really?

I personally don't feel that I "talked shit" on you. And, I did express my displeasure with you before I left, and told you that it could have been avoided had you asked for pictures. I gave you everything/anything you wanted via text. Like I said, I gladly would've driven to my garage, pulled my car out, and taken any pictures that you wanted. You simply didn't ask for them. You didn't even want to see engine bay pictures. I guess your lack of wanting more pictures and info should have been a red flag for myself.

As far as the picture you've been "staring at for the last week", that picture is 7 months old. The fenders weren't even rolled then. The pictures in this original post are the most recent pictures I have, like I stated. As far as $1,000 to fix the arches? You're "out to lunch" with that figure, in my opinion. Even if it was that much, you still would've only been into the car for around the original asking price.

Like I stated previously as well, the car is LOW. Is it undriveably low? No, it is not. Can you jump in it and drive it like it's a lifted Dodge Ram? No, you cannot. The roads where the car was scraping while you were driving it were terrible, and you weren't doing anything to take that into consideration when driving. The underside of this car is very unmolested, believe it or not. Well, at least it was until today. You can't just get in a car that sits this low and drive it like there won't be consequences from not avoiding potholes and "crowns" in the road. If I were piloting the car on the same road, I can guarantee you that you wouldn't have heard even half of the "scraping" you did hear, and the noises you would've heard would've been the plastic under panels that I pointed out to you.

I guess we can both use this as a learning experience.

Let me get this shit straight, you found a car on stanceworks and didn't buy it for being "stanced". Of course the car scrapes IT'S FUCKING LOW. This is the most asinine thing I've ever heard.
