  • You could own hank the tank.

Selling my 1986 BMW 528e, chassis model E28. Straight-six gas engine and manual transmission. I've had it for almost 2 years and put a lot of time and money into restoring it. Runs and drives fantastically. It has been a great car and never really given me any issues, but I'm going back to school and could use the extra money as I already have two other cars. For that reason, I'm not really looking for trades, but I will entertain offers. Worst I can say is no.

    Body-
It's in physically great shape. No rust or previous accidents and no dents or scratches. I painted it a couple months ago, and it could still use a buff job. In certain lighting you can see some swirl marks from the wetsanding. The rear bumper is fitted from a newer E34 5 series, and the front bumper has been deleted. It has the refinished euro-spec front headlights and grilles in excellent condition as well.

    Wheels/Suspension-
The wheels are BBS style 19's, recently split and polished. Tires are fairly new Falken Ziex 512's. The entire front suspension is new. Upper and lower control arms, ball joints, bushings, Tie rod ends, drag links, sway bar endlinks, everthing. The rear also has a few new links and bushings, but there was a lot less to replace for the rear. Koni Yellow dampening adjustable shock cartridges and custom built height adjustable coilovers on the front, and Koni Red Shocks with height adjustment in the rear. Rides fairly firm and sporty, no shakes or shudders. The front brakes are also new.

    Interior-
It has the leather "comfort" interior. Everything works. AC blows cold. The factory on board computer, check panel, cruise control, power seats in every direction, power mirrors, heated lock cylinders, all lighting and instruments, etc. It also has an M-Tech steering wheel. The driver's seat bolster has a tear and passenger seat has a couple threads coming loose, but for their age they are in decent condition. The carpets have a couple stains and the dash is cracked and looks pretty rough, but that is very common on these cars. There are companies that make molded dash caps for 100-200 bucks. New Pioneer head unit with HD radio, USB, AUX, and color display options. The antenna is a power amplified unit mounted in the windshield, as the rear antenna was deleted and shaved. Speakers are Infiniti and sound great.

    Engine-
This is the "E" model car, so it has the smaller engine option made for economical fuel mileage. I've seen mid 20's in the city and 30's on the highway. The M20 still runs strong and the manual Getrag transmission shifts great with no grinds. The clutch was professionally installed shortly before I got the car, and holds perfectly. Recently replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, intake boot, air filter, fuel filter, idle air control valve, battery, and a few other minor maintenance related things. Also has a new exhaust from the engine back. Passes emissions no problem. It has never overheated and never broken down on me. It does have a small power steering leak I couldn't manage to track down. It takes a couple weeks of driving before you have to top it off, but will leave drips when parked.
It has somewhere around 200k on it. The odometer is broken, which is another common problem with these cars. I just never bothered to fix it. I have the original sales booklet that came brand new with the car, including the owner's manual, an intro casette tape, the window sticker, the original sales receipt, and a ton of other records and receipts of the car's history and maintenance since it was new. It's really a solid car in and out, and looks great. It has been on several trips to Georgia and North carolina, and I'd continue to drive it anywhere. Clear TN title ready to go.

Asking 5,200 OBO, and again, not really looking for trades. My name is Cory, call or text (615)554-88l2 anytime with any questions or to arrange to look at it. Thanks.

StanceWorks peeps, 4500. 3800 without the style 19's. I have 16" 1-piece style 5's it can go on but you'll want tires soon.

I have personally driven this car a few times, it's a great car to cruise around in!

This might be a long shot but I have a buddy that is potentially interested. He's trying to get into the E30 game but I've so far almost convinced him out of it. I love e28s and I followed your build pretty closely so I'm really trying to urge him to buy this. Two problems...1. He is currently asleep so I can't tell him about it till tomorrow morning so hopefully it is not sold/being sold/or you've come to your senses and decided to keep it. 2. We're out here in California so it may take sometime to complete the deal. Now if that's okay and so forth that'd be great. I'll let you know what he says as soon as I hear from him. GLWS regardless, really loved following the build.
