The good:
- All of the above
- One of a kind car, highly regarded in all circles, built professionally with proper parts and not a hack-job
- Frame is straight and there are no claims on record, iirc... ill have to double check that later
- No chasis or body rust ***
- Major service preformed within last 10,000km: including MAF cleaning, Fuel system flush, tranny, PS, Coolant, brake fluid flushes, new water pump, belt and tensioner, new alternator belt and tensioner. fuel pump replaced at 90,000km, oil changed every 4,000km like clockwork, fuel filter changed every 10,000km like clockwork and recently replaced (500km ago).Air filter service 5,000km ago.
- Ready and waiting for a 3L 24V upgrade
The Bad:
- its a DD so its not perfect, there are rock chips, a few door dings and other minor damage associated with being a DD for the better part of it's life.
- there is a small dent in the hood over the latch from a friend stupidly sitting on the hood, it can be removed via paint-less dent removal however i have not bothered because it.s not obvious unless you're right over it.
- *** there is a small patch of surface rust on the rear edge of the passenger door from being low and passengers carelessly opening the door onto sidewalks chipping off the paint, otherwise the car is 100% free of rust.
fenders were improperly rolled years (sema car days) ago which ruined the paint, there is no rust but close inspection reveals obvious cracks and rubbed through patches.
- needs Spark plugs and wires. Wires need to be made to custom length due to mounting location of factory coils. this can be done by pretty much any shop that sells Hotrod parts, Taylor sells SVT Contour wire sets, then you just need to replace the leads with longer ones. probably cost you $200 once the smoke clears, i have the plugs already. car runs fine but it was on my list of things to do
- Has a minor PS leak at pump
- AC pump seized a long time ago, system is purged. its never hot enough to need AC up here so i never bothered to replace a system i never use. a new pump(SVT contour) and dryer with a recharge and she'll blow ice cold again.
- Headliner and pillars are faded and could use a recovering.
- there are 2 small nagging issues.
-- CEL is on due to a improperly wired fuel sensor off the tank. it does not effect running in any way. it can be fixed if you have the time and really care too.
-- the wire harness for the cam sensor needs some love. occasionally, the car wont start on first crank on a wet or damp morning. popping the hood and wiggling the harness with the ignition on elevates the problem and the car fires up no problem. this is one of those things where fixing the problem is not difficult but its even simpler to wiggle the harness.
***
beyond all of that, the car is rock-solid reliable and has never left me stranded except for the fuel pump going in the first 3000km of ownership. Only runs 91octane, likes to be rung out and handles extremely well for a car this low.
drop a LSD into the tranny and she would be complete in the performance department as far as i'm concerned.
a little work to the body and a paint job and she would be a show stopper, as is she garners as tremendous amount of attention and accolades from all groups.
All the details, mods and history can be found here:
Price:
$6000 you supply your own wheels&tires
$7000 with ARE's never driven on since refinish, you supply tires. Advise 195/40/16s, NOT S-Drives!
$8500 with BBS RS's
$9000 gets both sets of wheels
Wheels alone if the car sells without:
$1500 for the ARE's and no tires
$3000 for the RS's with tires
I'm in no rush to sell, looking for the right buyer who would properly care for and appreciate this car.
