I bought this recently not running and got it up and running, but it seems to be a continuous project and I have enough of those already.
1983 Volvo 244 GLT
-4 cyl Turbo
-Automatic
-167k
This car looks great. it has 15" ARE 398's, and is nice and low. (springs are cut)
The car is full of potential and it does run and drive but it needs a good bit of work before you can call it reliable.
It has a few rarer parts (vdo gauges, heckenblend (reflector between the tail lights), black trim, etc..)
I wish I had the time to make this car reliable because I just love the way it looks, and I hope someone else sees that and gives it a great home.
The photos will show you the good, here's a list of all of the problems I've come across.
-Major oil leak where oil return line goes into the block
-Thermostat housing is leaking antifreeze
-Runs like crap under boost
-Has a hard time starting up when it feels like it
-Seats are torn up
-Tie rod ends could use replaced as well as various other suspension components I'm sure
-Springs are cut so the ride is a bit rough
-Right rear quarter is banged up
-Rust directly behind both rear wheels on the bottom of the quarters
-Downpipe is missing a bolt where it bolts onto the turbo so it leaks.
-Fuel gauge doesn't work
Keep in mind the car is 30 years old, and I haven't owned it long so you may come across a few more issues as you tear into the car. I've described it to the best of my abilities
I got to enjoy the car for a few hundred miles before the oil and antifreeze leaks forced me to park it and post this ad. I'm sure I could keep dumping oil and antifreeze in and and drive it all over but i'd rather sell it to someone that wants to fix it up and an appreciate it than just run it to the ground.
The trunk is full of spare parts, they're all yours.
The price is $1500.
If you live more than a town or two away I'd suggest towing the car home.
