e30 top mounts

finally got round to fitting a spax kit to my e30 at the weekend and it immediately blew the top mount out of it housing so it was just sitting up through the boot. Reckoned it might be an age issue so put a new top mount on this morning and the same thing has happened. any ideas? same nearside rear wheels so im guessing it because thats the one running through all the holes in the road but still i made it about 4 miles before the new one blew up

any help greatly appreciated.

Can you post a pic of it from the top while still mounted in the car?

will try tomorrow. top of the strut with rubber and bolts attached is pushing through the case so the strut top isnt attached to the car, just wobbling around through the top mount hole into the boot.
