  • Civic eg suspension question (coilovers + extended top mounts)

Honda game is completey new to me, im more vw and had a super low mazda mx5/miata, but not clued up on civics, but After reading up on how people are running there civic eg (1992-1996 shape) and in the states Koni/ground control setup seems the most popular setup.

But over here in England, that setup would need to be imported etc and works out approx £800, so like $1200 im guessing.

I was thinking, with some coilovers like this

With uprated springs (higher lb for less movement) and extended tophats/top mounts work and allow for going super low? (lowmonroe & Jake looney type low)

Any info would be awesome and thanks in advance

Those have shock inserts in them, right? Can you get some tokico shocks over there? If you want quality, you could throw on some tokico blues and some random ebay coilover sleeves. Just remember to measure the spring weights to make sure that the fronts match, and same with the rear.

Read this, most coilover sleeves are actually pretty decent. I got a set that would cost $200 normally for free(if they fit my shocks). They were from a company called cosmo, and used 400lb swift springs for the front and 350lb springs for the rear with some beefy aluminum locking collars and lower spring perch. They were surprisingly well build, and the welds were uniform. I drove on them for about 40k ish miles with KYB excel G's, and the ride was very firm with no excessive bounce. I say try ebay coil sleeves out, you don't need to go all out on some fancy GC's.

Get the right shock for your spring rate(or get adjustable ones) or they will be bouncy.

I don't know much about raised tophats, but many people here have run raised tophats with success.

just read some of the build threads on here to get ideas of how to go about lowering EG civics, i personally have one that is low enough for now and i went with bilsteins and stiff swift springs (600lb and 800lb) to minimize spring compression. I also built my own extended top hats, i would highly recommend getting extended top hats if you plan on slamming your EG.
I will say this though I did find with the bilsteins that the strut travel wasn't as much as i would like so you might be best looking into different struts with more travel (helps when your adjusting your ride height to have some play in the range of travel for the struts)

here`s a link to my build thread but i would recommend you look around there are a lot better builds out there then mine.

      Cheers!
