  • looking to lower my w116 300sd

As the title says I'm looking to lower my 300sd, yes I'm cutting the springs and have the heavy duties from bilstein, I was wondering on how many coils I should cut front and back so I'm lower but not drastically low, I appreicate any info someone could give, thanks.

Every Mercedes body style a different formula for how many coils to cut.

Start off with one, and see how it looks. It will settle down too.

With my W123 I cut 1.5, and it was a 4+ inch drop but I'm cutting another coil soon.

A lot depends on what you mean by "lower but not drastically low."

But yeah, coil cutting is a trial-and-error thing. Start small.

Thanks, and yeah just go one coil at a time. The amount of settling took me by surprise.
