  • Help needed! D2 coils on E36!

Hi, been lurking here for a while! This might be good time to start posting

I have some serious issues with my new D2 coils on my E36!

Got issues with front set. Is there a certain way I need to approach the fronts, as the instructions are telling me not to compress the springs.

The bottom piece that you rotate to lower/raise the car is maxed out. It hits the other 2 sleeves which adjusts the spring.

instructions says not to adjust the height by the top nut, by compressing the spring. So, am completely lost on how to lower anymore.

I'll post pics soon as i go back to garage!

Okay so, now i compressed the spring. Its maxed out! So is the bottom sleeve which lowers ur car, turned the coil all the way up.. Here is picture what is going on

Here is how it looks now

It rides like shit, so stiff.. Is this meant to be like this? i must compress my spring to get lowz?

All you can do is pull collars or get shorter springs.

All of this is correct. Adjust the spring perch just so that there is a little preload on spring. Then do height adjustment from the bottom (body) collar.

Chances are the D2 coils just don't go low. D2 are just universal Taiwan suspension parts thrown together with no research or development. Likely they never even mounted them on an e36, so you're lucky they fit, but not lucky enough that they go low. Sadly, in trying to save money, you probably bought some coils that you'll just end up throwing away.

Allright, thanks! Ordered new 160mm springs, old were over 200mm! Hopefully that will help me
