  • If I did get coilovers... ( e28 )

I would want to get a maximum low I just have no idea what to get I was told Ground Control but I haven't seen any that low with GC anyone have any recommendation or pictures of an e28 or their car on this suspension
I noticed there was different options I can choose from just did not quite understand .

Anything would help thank you (:

do some searching man! there is a wealth of info out there. GC is considered "the best" for these cars, but most do not see them as a very cost effective solution. Many members are now building coilovers, which is discussed in a few different threads on here. Another option is some of the cheaper coilovers on the market, which have mixed reviews. I personally have NEX on my E28 and have not had any issues with them. I am looking to build my own for my newly acquired E21.

check out my build thread. They can get you pretty low. The ride is not bad. I really don't have much to compare it to. I drive my car pretty low in the NYC area so i'm not really expecting much. When I drive the car on more "normal" roads outside of the area the car rides nice.

I think how a car rides is all personal/ very subjective.

Just build your own, then you can have all the control in how low you will go, quality, etc. Also probably the most cost effective solution too.

I agree. If i could do it again i'd build my own, which i'm going to do on my E21. Only thing about building your own is getting shocks revalved, not really a big deal.

The downside to GC is that they don't really go super low. I believe Mike Burroughs has some photos of Rusty when he was on GC coilovers on his Flickr.

I liked how rusty sat on GC when I go to their site it confuses me what option (1-4) to pick from. Even if I have to fabricate something I'm okay with that .

Just build em friend. Pick a coilover sleeve of your choice with 2.5 inner diameter, buy some e30 ix inserts, or any other insert for that matter. I used mk2 inserts, but IX's will fit better (easier). Shorten the housing, make a perch for the sleeve. Done. You are low, mine rides great (even with cheap springs), and its cheap. Mine cost 235.

Depends on what you want. I would just eBay search em.

Check my thread. KYB mk2 inserts, 240sx coilover sleeves and springs, shortened housing. PM me for more details. There isnt really a set way to do DIY coilovers. Its pretty simple, use your noodle or have someone smarter than you use theirs, and their machine tools haha
