  • 2003 e39.

Just bought my self a 2003 e39 530i sport Aegean edition. looking for some coilovers I've always had lowered cars my last one Had fk highsports and they where horrible.

this is my problem the car is my daily driver plus wife and kids. I've been looking at jom coilovers there cheap here in the UK £190 but a think they might be worst than the fk ones then I have been looking at D2 racing street coilovers at £625. these are damper and height.

this is my first time at staceing I'm going to be putting my 19" tiger claws on

any info would help tyre sizes. spacers sizes etc.
    thanks Karl

I would recommend getting BC coil overs. probably the best coils that are a great price. I would also advise getting 18" rims with 45 profile sidewalls if you want to drive your wife and kids around in the car

45 series tires on 18's wont fit the car.

Lots of people could answer your questions but they're not because you can figure it out yourself. Get tires that are the same height as your stock ones, get the size spacers that will make the wheels fit the way you want them to. Do some research yourself, don't expect others to do it for you. It's not like you're the first person modifying an e39.

                Fair*

Sorry if it comes across as rude, but it's the truth. The scene gets ruined by people copying exactly what other people tell them. It's easy to figure out the stuff you're asking by yourself, and it will be more rewarding to know that you did it.

i'd say if you are looking for some suspension that is comfortable and reliable for wife and kids i'd try to save a little more for a better known brand. Everyone knows JOM are cheap and corner cutting but really are for people who just want to get low with disregard for everything else (Except maybe cutting springs :-/).
D2's have been around a long time and did have some quality issues. Perhaps they've fixed this now but in many peoples mind they are still a bit iffy.
K Sport are arguably the same as D2 anyway but generally i hear better things about these and saw them used a fair bit.
BC's are taiwanese also but have a big following in certain scenes. From all i've read they just about the best of the budget ones so i have bought those in the end (living in Australia prices are much higher on everything when you add postage :P).

Basically i would recommend going at least D2, but even try to look around for other options such as those above that you should be able to get in the same price bracket. Also pay heed to what spring rates you are wanting... it is rare that the 'off the shelf' recommended springs are exactly what you want when you are wanting to stance a car. Generally they are too soft but hence why if you are getting hard springs you need reasonable dampers (i.e. reasonable quality coilovers) otherwise the ride quality will suffer (not good for family driving)

Older Fk's had Koni shocks in them and rode very nice!
