  • Im in a rut, my 1981 Toyota Corona Wagon and wanting Coilovers

Im not sure if I can use coilovers from another car. plus it only needs the fronts the rear is leaf springs.

its currently on bump stops (no springs)

I have no idea what the suspension setup is on the front of a Corona, but it might be worth a look into AE86 Corolla coilovers up front. As for the rears, you can simply get longer U-bolts and spacer blocks, that's how the mini truck guys have been doing it for years.

Measure strut diameter, then but sleeves and springs to match the diameter. Probably a 2'' diameter.

Cut the spring perches off, weld on the collars, or use shaft collars, and rock it! DONE!

I sold this car to him.

It's currently completely bottomed out on stock struts with no springs installed. The bumpstops are custom and they're about 1 1/2" shorter than stock.

For the front he is going to need much shorter struts and coilover sleeves if he wants to retain this ride height/go any lower. Front suspension setup is similar to an AE corolla and MX cressida in that the axle shaft and strut are a single unit.

Ideally he's looking for something to bolt in but I was always too cheap to purchase an off the shelf or readimade unit for this car.

As for the rear of the car, it's blocked over 5 1/2 inches. It's pretty retarded as it because you scrape u-bolt pretty often even though the car is nowhere near scraping subframe.

I loved this car, but all the modifications were free for me and I had dreams of doing it right when time/money caught up. It really just needs a minitruck style 4-link in the rear and to have some of the shelf weld-on coils similar to what a few people on the forum have had to do for e34s for the fronts.

But... He just doesn't really have the means to do this kind of balls-out fabrication (No offense, Jeff), so he's looking for something bolt-on or easily adaptable.
