  • E30 owners: BC or GC

Alright I've done a lot or research on both kits and it comes down to this. I plan on going as low as possible. I've heard that BC going super low becomes crappy. But for what I've looked at there's about a $700 difference. So if you know anything about slamming an e30 on either of these coilovers help me out. Should I go ahead and spring the extra for the Ground Controls or are they just not worth the extra for what it's worth.

I own BCs in my Subaru so I know the quality and all that. I'm only interested in someone's opinion about how they were in an E30. Thanks in advance.

To run GCs you'll need shorten your stock housings quite a bit. The BCs require cutting the knuckle off of the bottom of the stock housings and welding it on to the coilover. I think in the end you'll end up with a better setup for going low on the GCs but it takes more work (I say this mostly because of the flexibility of the GC setup in changing spring rates easily). Ideally with GCs you'd run a 325ix koni insert and shorten the housing 1-2 inches. After you do all that, the price will be about the same for both setups. With the GC, you'd also need camber plates and rear shocks.

Well I spoke with GC and I was planning on having them shorten them for me and they come with camber plates and all of that. All in all it seems the way to go but I wanted to just check again before I pulled the trigger. I didn't know if the extra cash was really worth it since I know BC makes a pretty good product. Here's the kit I was looking at buying

My other question is what spring would anyone suggest for going low. Thanks

i have BC and i'm pretty low, oil pan is 3 fingers from the ground. i had to order a shorter rear spring from bc to go lower. ask for the super low kit and if not then ask for some pretty short springs and you'll be happy. the ride is nice.
