  • Opinion on Ksport Air struts

So I am thinking with my Kia Spectra of running air. I have experience installing and setting up air ride systems, I am just new to coil over style strut bags. Here is what I am wondering

How is Ksport in general? I have read mixed reviews through many years about them.
Does anyone have experience with any of their air strut kits?
Anyone have experience with air ride and 4 corner Macpherson struts? How does it ride?
How low do these kits generally get you?
I am torn between the Megan coil over kit and the Ksport strut bag setup, I am just looking for some help in making the decision.

Added note. I won't be running any of the Ksport air management, just the struts.

Thanks in advance for the information

The KSport air suspension is made in the same factory as D2 Racing, and AirForce (aka AirTekk). They are just owned by different companies but the product is the same minus the coloring. They are good setups and will last as long as your average coilover and will ride like your average coilover. We have D2 Racing struts on one of the Subarus here and it rides a little stiffer than the Air Lift air struts but it isn't harsh by any means.

Getting low depends on the platform. For an example, the KSport BMW F30 setup will still leave you with about a half inch of gap between your front fenders and the lip of your wheel (on 18s), while their setups for other platforms will allow you to tuck 18s in the front.

A full blown strut setup like KSport / D2 Racing is going to be better than a bag over coil setup for most applications. Some cars work excellent with an Aero Sport bag on a set of coilovers but in general they won't go as low as an actual air strut that is designed for the car. There are some exceptions to this but again, that depends on the vehicle.

I'm glad to hear you are steering away from their managements. They are extremely overpriced for what you get (which isn't much).

      Thank you for your info.
Do you have any experience with suspensions that run macpherson on front and rear? I was thinking about hydraulics for a little bit, but after some research I was told they ride really stiff in a macpherson setup. Just wondering if air is going to be similar.

Ride quality depends on the brand you go with for your air suspension. If you go with the D2 Racing / KSport setup, it is going to ride stiff like a coilover but it won't be harsh like you are running 30k+ spring rates or anything like that.

I am just looking for something that is going to be comfortable with daily driving. What would you recommend?

It would be going on my 08 Kia Spectra which is the same suspension as a 03-09 Hyundai Tiburon

After calling ksport I decided to pass on their air strut. It uses sleeve bags for the rear and I am not a fan of sleeve bags, even less of a fan now that I keep seeing and hearing about them fail.

There is nothing wrong with sleeve style bags and chances are, if they are using a sleeve style bag on your rear struts, a double bellow bag is going to be too wide for the rears.

Bags should not randomly fail. If you are hearing about people's bags failing they most likely didn't install their setup correctly and the bag was rubbing on other suspension components. If a bag rubs on anything it will fail over time.

It isn't the rubbing I see with the sleeve bags. It is the bag inflating and ballooning out instead of creating any lift. There are a few threads here about it along with a few video's scattered throughout the net. Each time it happens the general consensus seems to always be failed part. All of that is enough to steer me away from air on my daily.

I've personally had four different bagged dailies (20k+ miles on each setup) and never had any issues with my suspension. I wouldn't make an opinion based on what a few people posted online. I am willing to bet none of those setups were Air Lift setups right? Were they universal? If so they probably weren't using the correct bags for their application. There are so many different variables when it comes to air ride that it's really easy for someone to go the cheap way out and jank a setup into their car just to be on air.

I answer tech calls for customers and non customers alike all day long and I can honestly say I've never dealt with someone who's bags were inflating out instead of lifting. Whoever has that setup definitely went with a shitty option and didn't do any research haha.

It is good to hear that someone has put some miles on these kits with little issue. It is a bit of a relief.
Basing my opinion on what a few people on the net posted is how it works. They are called reviews I am not about to drop 3k on a suspension and parts when I have no experience with the product or company. I know air suspension, but I don't have any experience with these style strut bags or Ksport/D2.
My experience with sleeve bags come from my days of bagged trucks and they were never good experiences. I know these are a different design and application, but it is still a sleeve bag.
Thank you for the info though, I am still unsure what route I am going to go.
