  • Proper way to jack up a car with air ride

Hi do I jack my car up in order to adjust the air ride (ksport). Do I air up the car and put the jacks underneath and then air down on the jacks or can i leave psi in the bags while jacking up the car. Secondly in order to adjust the air ride struts do I need to disconnect the air lines from the bags?

I'm not on a bag-over system, so maybe there's some subtlety there that I'm missing, but the way I always handle it is to lift the car to preset 3 (all up), shut down the ignition so the ride height sensors don't go haywire dumping air to try to get the car level, and lift it from there. Airing it up all the way before I lift gives me the maximum amount of suspension droop that the sway bars will allow.

If you're going to adjust your strut collars, I probably would relieve the pressure inside the bag before making any adjustments. That way, you don't have a million pounds of pressure grinding the threads of your strut body against the locking nuts as you try to turn them. Should make the job a little easier. I don't think it's necessary to disconnect the lines themselves, so long as there is no pressure in the bag, but again, I'm not super familiar with bag-over-shock/strut systems.

Just jack it up like normal from ride height. Of course, you can air up higher if you need the clearance. If you're doing any suspension work, dump the pressure once it's on jack stands.
