  • Bag setup for 1981 W123 200?

Just got hold of a one owner Merc W123 200 mint in light grey, (such a sick colour)

Obviously want it to sit as low as possible and coils or springs are not gonna cut it this time!

Never had a bagged motor but this is the perfect ride to start.

Problem is I can't find any info on a kit that would fit? I'm in the UK so this might effect what's available to me?

Any help would be most appreciated and I'll post some pics of the car tomorrow.

We just finished a w123 a couple months ago here at Hard Parker Garage. I know there were two different rear suspension options which will change how the rear needs to be built.

But regardless without having full custom shock mounts made for custom air struts, this is about as low as you can get the chassis(if you have the rear suspension where the shock is inside of the spring and not next to it.

There will always be someone driving something nicer than yours. Just don't park next to that guy!

      Thanks for your help..

I have paid the deposit for the car which will be getting an mot and service and ready in afew days. It's been on display in this car showroom for 2 years and just became up for grabs this week! So stoked, this car is immaculate!

      It needs dropping so bad..

Not sure if the rear shocks are in or out of the springs yet?

What kit did you go for sauce? Did you have to put it together yourself?

        That thing looks nice!!

There currently isn't any bolt in kit out there, you have to build it all yourself. We built it for the one pictured in house at our shop.

Feel free to email me if you have any other questions! And congrats on the purchase!!

Best color you can buy a W123 in, in my opinion. Good luck on bagging it. I'll be doing mine in april. I think I'm only going to bag the front of mine, as I can adjust my rear SLS system for ride height.

              Thanks mike-81-240d and The_Sauce..

I got it home from the garage and had a good ride around for afew days at standard height, so pleased with the condition of this thing and it drives like new!

Ive now got it parked up at work and ready to get going on the height issue. Here are some pics of what im dealing with:

              Up front

              Out back

Im thinking custom struts for the front although im really not sure how they would mount? If anyone has any pics to point me in the right direction that would be amazing..

Maybe bags for the rear, moving the shocks a touch.

Cut 3 coils from front and 2 at the back for a quick fix this week.

The front is not low enough really so I might cut another 1 coil.

Ordered the whole air kit last night from the States so as im in the UK I got a couple of weeks to wait... Much cheaper doing it this way rather than buying it from the UK just hope I don't get stung to much on a customs charge.

Gonna move rear shocks and use RE-6 slam bags and the same up front but have to alter the upper control arm configuration to enable a worth while drop.

Here's some pics of what it's sitting like after the chop
