  • bagged sti help please

    hello,

so i have an 11 sti on airlift w/elevel and rocker switch. I recently blew a bag due to tire rubbing. i changed everything out, running bigger spacers but for some reason my suspension stiffens up randomly now. it feels like my dampening is all the way to "hard" then i air up my suspension then put it back to ride height and it goes back to normal. it also happens when i first drive my car in the morning to work, i just air it up all the way and back down to ride height and it goes away. suspension is new so i know its not the shocks, any ideas? thanks.

Hm.. Do you have a gauge to monitor your pressures? The eLevel might be cross loading which in turn is putting more air into opposite corners of your car. If a corner has a higher pressure than the other, you will feel the increased stiffness. That's the only thing I can think of because when you re-level, the car feels like normal again.

Oh hey Cory! Sometimes the eLevel systems will cross load depending on where you level the car. I always suggest re-leveling as you drive (rolling, not accelerating or braking). If you air the car up on uneven ground, although your wheel to fender might be the same all around, the system will put more pressure in certain bags. Leveling back out while you're rolling should solve the harshness that you have been experiencing and re-calibrating won't really do anything. The system's AI learns so re-calibrating will reset all of the values it has gathered so far. Your best bet is to leave it like it is and the system will get more accurate over time.

thanks rail. that actually makes a lot of sense bc my car is parked on the street on an incline for the time being and all of this started when i started parking it there. thanks so much.
