Notching a mk6 gti

I keep hearing from some people that the fuel lines run thru the passenger side frame rail where you do the notch at, anyone got any advice for how to pull them out of the way?

I have heard of people disconnecting the lines in the engine bay, moving them out of the way while they do the notch, and then reconnecting them once the notch is finished. Although it's a bunch of work, it would be the safest way to go about it.

I mean, if you just go for it and cut through the lines while doing the notch, you will have to disconnect them anyway so you might as well do it initially instead of potentially wasting money while trying to go the easy way out.
