  • Air Shocks / Sleeves

I have been looking at different ideas for about a year now. After doing 3 bag rides, I would like to turn my attention to my classic Mini. It's a 76, and looking if anyone has any ideas, suggestions etc. Criteria is, economical, and clean solution. There is 1 manufacturer in the UK producing a kit, but the cheapest basic kit is at the tune of $2500.

    This is said kit.

Currently available is also a variety of coilover kits that mounts similar accept on the rear it uses a offset bracket to mount the coilover to clear the very small indentation of where the stock shock would be.

Here is how it fits on the rear.

How it fits on the front.

So my thoughts were to use something like the airlift chapman kit or if I could find something smaller/cheaper. Again, weight of car is only 1350lbs, plus passengers, so say max of 1750 with 2 people and some extra junk in the trunk.

My question is there any air shock that could support this weight? That is under 4" total diameter? 3" would be great.

I assume this wouldn't be enough to support the car on it's own. Was trying to research how vw bugs did it, but didn't really come up with anything.

Air ride shockwave 7000's would probably fit the bill if they weren't

    THOUGHTS? Cheers.

Almost bought a set of black shockwave 7000's to play around with last night. May still pick them up, any one else's thoughts on what may work?
