  • air bag connection

hi i have a set of struts that have a plastic thread into which a metal push fit adaptor threads.
was driving along today and it shot out....

so it seems i have stripped the thread some how, i have tried loctiting it up today and plan on leaving it overnight to set, if that fails any other solutions?

    possibly re-threading it some how?

    thanks in advance.

It's definitely concerning that the fitting shot out. Usually the plastic plate will crack and cause a pretty decent leak. Although you really should get a new bag, if you must drive the car, you can always epoxy a fitting in there for the time being until you get the funds to have it replaced. I wouldn't try to repair the bag by re-threading the port. What type of bag is it?

i think it came unthreaded as i had no thread lock on it was relying on the rubber o-ring, stupid now i know, i have loctited it in now and seems to be fine, no cracks in the bag plate. brand i cant think of the name right now its a sleeve bag with no writing on, was a custom design by a uk company.

Okay yeah I can definitely see the fitting coming out if you didn't use any sort of sealant. Seems like you should be fine now! If you didn't use any sealant on all of your fittings yet, now would be the time to do it before you run into something like that again.
