anyone hacked a factory air strut up to use as donor parts for a new custom build?

thinking of buying a used strut off ebay and having a play with it? see if it can be modified to fit my own strut?

I have a Ford Transit (van) and thinking of getting maybe a range rover air strut to have a look?

my strut body is 58mm diameter

well dived in on ebay and brought a pair of range rover struts and a pair audi q7 struts, both types have the rolling sleeve bag, getting them tomorrow worked out around £80 a pair. The only real issues I see is I think both types have a fixed top mount (no rotation)

got them home and my strut is in the centre, Audi on the right look like more chance of fitting due to size

still having problems getting the pictures on the post?
