  • what's the absolute minimum setup?

    Hi,
I'm a noob to air and what to fit a system to my ford transit (van)
I don't have enough cash to buy a complete setup so was wondering if you can start off by just fitting the front air/struts and using my home compressor to pump them to correct ride height? can bags be left for days pumped up? which leads me back to the title "what's the absolute minimum setup?"
    Many Thanks

Yes, you can. I've done a few set ups back in the day where they used butterfly valves and no compressors. Get a tank though, you can find them as cheap as 20 bucks if you look.

ok thanks sounds like a plan! how long can bags be left pumped up? do they have to be let down over night or when your not driving?

When an air setup is done correctly (ex. bags are not rubbing anything to cause punctures, air lines are routed correctly to not rub against anything to cause punctures, fittings are sealed tight) the air should hold with no issues. It would be smart though to check the pressure in each bag by hooking up gauges to each corner just in case to make sure that the appropriate amount of air is in each bag.

so the minimum set up could be just the bag with a air valve, so I could just pump up the bag with my compressor in the garage, and if no leaks the bag wont go down would it hold pressure like a tyre for weeks or days? thanks

In theory yes, but just like how a tire loses air over time so will the bag. Just to be on the safe side though attach gauges to each corner because having the correct psi in each bag is crucial for your alignment.
