  • anyone know if i can do this?

my rear air struts have a flow regulator in them and it annoys the hell out of me when lifting up. IT TAKES A YEAR to raise the back end up and about 2 seconds to fully lift the front.

is there some way i can modify my rear struts so i can get a little faster fill time?

for more info on what were dealing with here. check link. i just joined.

Is the flow regulator internal or car you actually see it?

i have no idea, maybe.. what do you think?
factory air line is 1/8" but its thicker then DOT 1/8" line so i was hoping i could maybe get a larger air line in it to eliminate the slow fill time completely.. i have air and EDC so id like to keep it if i could. i love being able to float and at the push of a button have a coilover feel.

does this look like you could possibly unscrew the air fitting or flow regulator and replace it with something else? im sketchy on actually playing with mine without knowing for sure first because i only have this car and a mini with NO SPRINGS to drive.. literally on bumpstops.. (removed the springs for fun.. its a seriously rough ride tho)

Hm, yeah not sure either. The air line on the e39 that we had here was 4mm if I remember correctly (slightly larger than 1/8"). We can source unions that go from mm to ptc so you can try running a larger line size. Obviously the fittings will be a slight bottleneck but you should still be able to get better flow with a larger line size.

what we used to do back in the day with oe air struts is cut off the factory fitting, weld it shut and tap another hole for a ptc fitting. check the material at the top..it should be metal. if not, then you cant do it.
