  • bought wheels today - what width tires should i get?

bought some wheels today for the e30. they are 5x120 and will be needing 20mm adapters so i am going to need some massive stretch.

    specs: 16x8 et16 - et-4 after adapter
    16x8 et0 - et-20 or -25 after adapter (or more)

other info: rolling fenders is a given, will have a camber kit up front, and will try to perfect the rear camber to avoid pulling my fenders.

    tires sizes i'm thinking about:

    8_195_40_R16:

let me know as i am a noob to stretch, thx.

only advice i can give is good luck finding a 165/40/16 anywhere in the states, but a 195/40/16 should give you a fair amount of stretch on an 8" wheel

thx for the input & there is a guy on e-bay selling 165 nankangs at the moment,............i realized the 165 don't look the greatest after seeing this pic:

and after getting some info from the guy who owns the e30 in this next pic, 195 will look titties:

so what has a nice sidewall that'll give me a nice look? looks like all i have to decide from is toyo, falkens, & yokohamas. looks like the falkens will cost me more than the toyos and i've never heard much about the yokos,.........and think i should widen the rears to 10"?

There are a thousand threads on tire stretch all over the internet on most forums, people seem to favor the falkens, I favor whatever is the cheapest because I dont give a shit about performance when I will be chewing them up with camber, shitty alignment and burnouts... But, thats just my .02

              ^ agreed !

Yokos are great s drives stretch nicely , but expensive.
Falkens 512, 452, 912 and 502's are great for stretching because of their soft sidewall, but its a bad thing because they are to soft and always blow out, i'v heard a lot of crazy stories about them,
i'm a fan of toyo's i have the proxes fz4's on my integra, the sidwall is harder and more rounded than the falkens and they arent to bad on price either.

              IMO i would run a 215/40 on a 10

acutally, s drives have a fat sidewall, and you gotta run narrower sizes to get the same stretch. I'm a personal fan of 452's, not as narrow as the 512 but they run small enough for decent stretch. Fuzion ZRi's run narrow, and they're cheap.

well, i'm asking here since this seems to be the place for the best fitments on the interwebs.

after the seeing the pic above, fuck the yokos. probably will have to go falkens not saying they're bad as i've had them before, i was just hoping for some toyos.

with less sidewall from a 40 series, that stretch will be spot on for what i want

i noticed goodyear's top line tires already have the sidewalls in an angle. do all of the more expensive performance tires do this? or is it just them?
