  • OZ wheel "factory spacer"

I bought a set of OZ racing pegasus..the guy claimed that these spacers that are bolted in the back from factory can be removed to change the offset...but after receiving them someone told me you can run these wheels without this spacer since it acts as the bolt seat in the same time....i cant tell were the spacer ends but looks like it ends right at the seat..anyone can shime in?
I really could use the extra 15mm to help me fit them :/

Here is a pic from online since tapatalk isnt working now

You can remove the spacer with no ill consequences. It is not a bolt seat.

OZ, MSW, ABT, Carlsson, etc 10 point bolt tools info

Thank you for your reply. I am going to start drilling out the bolts on one tomorrow to "disect" it haha(few of them are already stripped and they are rusty and seized). getting rid of these would help me a whole lot.

Do you talk from personnal experience?

Just think about it... if the spacer were the bolt seats, the only thing holding the wheel to the spacer is a few little allen screws. Does that seem right?

yes thats exactly what i am thinking aswell..everywere i searched people say its a "factory removable spacer" but cand find any info from people who actually removed them. the person who told me i cant works at a reputable wheel shop..but he didnt seem certain either..thats why i posted here since im doubting myself. im going to have to drill all the allens out since someone has already stripped them too..

They can definitely be removed. Lug seats can never be in a spacer.

I've removed these from a couple sets of RS's and even the MK Motorsport wheels on my own car. The reason they exist is for wheel manufacturers to cheaply adapt an existing wheel to a different vehicle. For example, my rear wheels had 13mm spacers to make them Z3M fitment, but when removed, the wheels become E39 fitment. And going the other direction, they would have cut 8mm off the backpad to make them E46M fitment. Same center section can be inexpensively used on three different vehicles.

                thank you!

i ended up removing one spacer for a wheel yesterday, drilled the heads of since they would all strip no matter what..pulled the spacer off and extracted the pieces of the old hex bolts(fairly easy took about 15min to do).

                thanks everyone for the help!
