  • Need help ASAP determining legitimacy of wheels

Hey guys new to sw and this is my first post
Sorry if posted in the wrong section

For all the guys running SSR SP1 I need some light on whether these are genuine or reps. I have no clue on if ssr even made SP1 in these specs as well as if the valve stem is meant to be there. From what I can tell the centre caps look genuine but nevertheless i'm clueless on these wheels.

    They are
    17x8 +40
    17x8.5 +40

I don't have a photo of the inner barrel of the tag as that the seller has not provided them so i can not verify it through that.
I will be inspecting them tomorrow hopefully so any help will be appreciated.

Currently the only photos of them

    ***Thanks mod for moving thread***

Don't think anyone could verify for you based on those photos if they are real or reps without seeing inner stampings, engravings, stickers, etc.

If they are a great price then pay with PayPal for "real SSRs", then do more research, and you can file a claim if SSR tells you they weren't made by them.

If you end up getting them show us some photos on the car!
      Good luck.

        The bolts are 12 point.
Valve stems are in the right spot and are clearly the proper type, go into the inner barrel
So far, from these pics, nothing suggests they are fake

I ended up pulling out. The seller seemed clueless and was not willing to show/take a photo of the inner stickers so i thought it would be a waste of time to go and inspect them in person. Even if they were genuine, I wasn't willing to take the risk with how shady the selling was. Hopefully in the future ill put up a build thread when I get a hold of some mods haha. Anyways thanks for the tips. Ill use those for my next purchase so something like this doesn't happen haha.

And another thing I forgot to add. I had a look around on the specs some suppliers offer and none of them seemed to have them in the specs above. No one offered a +40 offset. It was more along the lines of +37 and +43. Does this seem fishy to you guys?

Not really... so many people are clueless about offset. I've even ended up with wheels that weren't the right bolt pattern.

3 lug nuts and Chinese tires seems more fishy.

Sometimes wheels are only produced in certain specs for certain years and its hard to find info.
For example maybe the ones you were looking at were reverse lip with valve stem coming out of the barrel, only produced for a specific market a long time ago, whereas current models are step lip with valve stem from the lip.
Maybe they were rebuilt at some point.

They were probably real and not reps, but you are smart not to purchase based on the suggestions of people who haven't even seen the backside.

Good luck with the wheel hunt.
PS if you are in Australia, aren't Simmons the "obvious" choice?

Exactly what thinking about the tires as well. Said to be "Mid ranged" tires haha. As for Simmons wheels they are a bit to pricey for my budget and aren't the overall look i'm going for (for now at least LOL). In the meantime I plan on getting some (genuine?!) wheels with mediocre offset as I don't plan on doing guard work other than rolling my guards if required.
