  • Designing own centercaps for my MK Motorsports

    Hi there,

When splitting my BBS MK Motorsport wheels, I thought of doing something different and I mounted a BBS VR6 centercap just for fun and giggles...I never thought it would have such an impact...

As you can see designwise it's fricking awesome, so I had the idea of making an own design for the centercap using the design of the BBS VR6 centercap..

Cause these wheels are already pretty rare, I thought it would be nice to show the progress

    Splitted:

    Mock-up of the centercap

Quick paint on the centercap so i can visualize it better

All the designs I created so far:

    Design 1:

    Design 2:

I don't have any pictures of the 3rd design...

Design n°4 is my favorite...still needs a bit of tweaking to let it 3d print, but I'm 99,99% happy with the outcome of that.

If you have some designs you want to share, feel free to comment

Looks great. I have a set of these wheels too, your cap design is nicer than the oem cap it came with originally.

Are you planning on drilling and tapping the faces for the hardware to hold the cap on like you show?

      thx

the bolts are on the same location as the OEM fixation. altough there is only one bolt to secure everything, and the other five are just decoration..
This way the design is more symmetrical, and really complete the six-spoke look.

I just need to shave 5mm off the original fixation thing, otherwise my own design cap wont fit. If i did design n°2 (flat) this wasn't neccesary.

        Those look really good!

I've always thought the center caps could be better on these. MK also no longer makes the old style center sticker, and the new aluminum ones don't look great. (see pictures linked) What material do you plan to print these with? Please update this thread with your progress... I want to see more.
