  • Aodhan AH04 17x9

So I ordered a set of these and they just came in the mail yesterday evening. I haven't seen any info on these anywhere as they seem to be a new manufacturer, but the price was right and I decided to pick a set up. I'm hoping to have some tires put on this evening and maybe put a review up or something since I couldn't find any reviews anywhere else.

I know some folks will knock these for their price or for them being a replica of something, and that may be fair. If you're cool with Varrstoen then you are probably cool with these. I just couldn't beat the price and I thought they looked pretty nice.

edit: Also I realize now that it seems weird that I just joined and I'm posting about some new company's stuff. I promise I'm not selling anything.

I'm familiar with the brand. I just bought a set of AH-02 for my Zhp. I can agree they along the same quality as Varrstoen.

How are you liking them so far? I'm really impressed with the quality but I haven't driven on them yet.

They look like a replica of a replica. The caps are modeled after Ag wheels.
Buying fake purses, watches, etc. is frowned upon, but some people think that buying fake wheels is different somehow.

I can't really speak for everyone, but I'm not too concerned with "name brand wheels" and the average person will never know any better. Plus, there are only so many different ways you can make a 10 spoke wheel with a reinforcing ring, it's definitely going to look like some other company's wheel. It just comes down to what people can afford (or are willing to spend, rather).

yes, while all of that is true.. the original version of this wheel was made with a much stronger metal in mind, so when the design is copied and they use poor casting grade aluminum..or whatever it is.. they're prone to unrepairable damage and breakage.

it's not all about the looks.

That is definitely a valid point. I know there have been issues with Varrstoen and other similar manufacturers in the past with wheels cracking and whatnot. Aodhan is a super new company and as such I can't find any reviews for their wheels. I guess I will be the guinea pig and report back for everyone else's benefit.

I had some tires put on the new wheels and finally have them on the car!
So the wheels are 17x9 +35.
                The tires are 234/45/17.
I was able to go pretty low on the stock wheels, but these new ones are giving me some serious rubbing. My current fitment is garbage and will probably be that way until I can get a fender roller, so please excuse the 4x4 status in these pictures.

your wheels look small, with that reinforcement ring i would have gone 18"

Yeah it's actually pretty surprising how small they look right now. Big tires will do that. I'm hoping that once I do some fender rolling I can get the car settled back down and they won't look quite so small.

For what it's worth, most of these cast replica wheels come from just a few sources. Any new "company" can throw a design over to them with their name on the center cap and get a few dozen sets at ridiculously cheap prices. A lot of these little wheels companies are a guy getting wheels from China and literally selling them out of their garage. Same goes for so many of the forged multi-piece wheels... just a middle-man assembling the pieces in their garage. Point is, the majority of wheels come from only a few manufacturing locations, with it being more common for replicas and small businesses.

You might recognize a few designs from this place...

                      edit:

A quick search finds Aodhan is a subsidiary of A Spec Wheels. A Spec is an importer of all the usual low quality reps. So there you go, someone who already has connections importing the least-regarded names in the industry decided to make their own brand. The "About Us" section of their website is pretty funny, particularly the mention of quality standards without naming the standard. They talk about branding twice as much as they talk about design and engineering (one sentence without proper grammar).
