  • Drilling into drilled inner barrels

    Hello,

I just received some inner barrels that I purchased, however to find out they don't actually fit my wheels faces. I know that I can sell the barrels. However, I was wondering if anyone has drilled new holes into their inner barrels and I want to pleasure the idea.

The barrels I bought are 40h, I need to convert them into 60h. I quickly messaged two very popular businesses and they deem it too risky to work on. Stubbornly, I think its still possible and doable.

    Any comments and opinions welcomed.

Now i dont have much knowledge about redrilling stuff, but i'm going to use some common sense here.

you want 60 holes in a place where's normally 40.

which means you have a completely new pattern. which means you have to weld the old holes up. welding means heating up the material, thus weakening it. Then you want to drill even more holes into it which weakens it again.

Given that these parts are going to be on constant stress, i'd want to have that part of my wheels as strong as they possibly can be.

yes it's possible, no it's not a good idea.

long story short. cut your losses, just buy new barrels and sell these.

i shouldn't be daily driving this:

if the patterns overlapped it would be another story, but the work that would have to go into converting 40h to 60h wouldnt be worth it.

something like a 20 hole to 40 hole sure cause it didnt affect the initial pattern

if they are 18" stepped 40 hole parts, i may be interested. looking for some at the moment
