  • Modena Question

Hey guys, So I have a set of Modenas that I've had for a awhile. When I got them they had all original hardware except the previous owner had lost two bolts so he had two BBS bolts in there to replace them.
I'm decided to upgrade the hardware when I get them refinished this year. I reached out to one person and he said M7 bolts are too thick and the wheel/lip/barrel holes need to be drilled out in order to get new hardware for the wheels.
Does anyone know if this is true? I've seen a bunch of Modenas with different hardware and I haven't read anything about this issue until this one shop told me this.

Here's a picture of the wheels for attention

In your case where they're sandwich mounted a longer bolt is needed, like the BBS sizing of M7x32(stock Modena length is maybe 28 or 30?). I'd be surprised if the rest of the bolts, apart from the 2 are original Modena bolts as they usually aren't long enough to be use safely when sandwich mounting. M7's are what they come with from memory, but when original and face mounted the bolt head sits in a little recess and the BBS sized bolt head are just too big and won't sit in that recess, so maybe that's what he meant. I'm 99% sure any aftermarket M7x32 bolt will work when staying sandwich mount. Take one out and measure it, that'll tell you what's in there.
