This. I've definitely seen people do it. As long as it's a face mounted wheel (as yours look like), it should be easy enough.
Those look like Lip/Face/Barrel not Face/Lip/Barrel. I don't see how he can remove the face without taking the lip or the barrel off first, meaning the tires have to go too. They don't look like they come apart like Style 5's or other 2 piece wheels where you can just pop out the face.
