  • achieving a brushed finish

i had brushed wheels on my old dpe's and im refinishing my wheels. im not sure if the correct way to achieve the brushed finish is to just sand in 1 direction and make it uniform, and then clear.

the wheels are modulare 3 piece forged. if this isnt the way to do it, ill just paint em silver like i planned.

polish then wire brush attachment on a dremel? scotch bright pads?

find some scrap aluminum or an expendable wheel then practice on that.

get a dremel and appropriate bit and do brushed swirls like you what you would see when people use goldflake. it'd probably take forever, but it'd be worth it

              like this:

Hahaha yeah I should have realized this when I spent 10+ hours stripping my BBSs, I had my buddy polish the lips and he blasted them before polishing them and it took like 5 min per lip I was like FFFUUUUUUUUUUU

Would you be able to add color/hue to this if you:

Sand it down the a brushed finish, spray it lightly with bonze paint, steak it lightly and matte clear coat it. So it would look like you have brushed bronze wheels?

not sure. for my car i wouldnt do it because i love how silver wheels POP with a chrome lip.

im sure if the strokes were deep and the paint was light it may be possible.

Oh, I just want to make the 500e stockers I just bought a bit more unique, too much conservatives among the MB community.

I'll try to use a golf club cleaner (brass wire brush) to score the wheels after I sand it.
