pretty much any sealant will work provided its water-proof and can be used on aluminum. If its leaking you probably put it on wrong.

I almost positive RTV is the same as GE silicone ( windows and doors ). The only difference in other GE silicone's is for example kitchen and bath has fungicides and what not in it.

The GE is also what they use for aquariums. Its sold to aquarium manufacturers for assembly so GE puts not for aquarium use on their own tubes so it dont take away business to those they sell it to in that industry.trade. Very rarely do aquariums leak right out the box, just an example of quality.

yea, I'd like some first hand experience here also. It seems like a lot of people go with black RTV....anybody here had a leak using that?

take wheels apart, do what you want to them, bolt them back together then add the sealant, one layer smoothed out in the seam, wait 24 hours re-apply with a wider bead and smooth that out and your good to go

i just used some general silicone i had at work, but i work/own a plumbing wholesale place

I have used GE II Silicone as well, but generally I use Black RTV silicone and have never had any issues with wheels leaking.

GE II Windows and Doors Silicone adhesive.

I havent used it on splits but I know people that have.

I have used it to bond lots of other things together that might leak otherwise like aquariums and headlights so its legit.

Smooth a few layers and then run just a bead like you typically would with any caulk.

The trick is the less you play with it the more chances you have at not running into bubbles.
