determinering wheel size, need help

Hey guys kinda new to this site, been watching it awhile but havent joined until now.

I have a full blown show car that im in the process of redoing, getting it stanced, cleaning it up, and trying to make it alot cleaner, and away from the ricer look.

Anyways I have a one off set of coilovers on the way, and tons more suspension goodies but i having a bit of trouble determining how wide these rims will be on the car.

Im looking at picking up a set of X6M reps in the size of 20x9.5 and 22x11 with a 40 offset, I will need a hub adapter 5 x100 to 5 x120, which the shop said will be about 1 1/2" thick. They are trying to tell me that the rim will sit 33cms outside of the car, and I dont think this is right, any of you guys can help me determine this

what car is this going on? we need to know that... and ive never seen spacers that think...obv the shop doesnt know what they are talking about, last time i had a set made they were 20mm thick

there are also alot better wheels out there than those wheels...

need to know what car it is and if there's been any modifications to the fender etc.

well the adapters can be made to whatever thickness you want as long as its at least 15mm, some shops wont go under 20mm.

I think you meant 20x10 et40 and 20x11 et37, if not theres a problem

Also they might be right if your car has high offset specs

Lowest adapters ive seen measured 15mm as mentioned

And what car is this? because X6M wheels are pretty wide

The wheels are 20x 9.5 and 22x 11 with et 40 according to the shop. It is going on my 1996 Dodge Stratus. I know its not your typical car on this fourm but this is what im working with. Ive widened the fenders ( cut and weld) as im running 18 x8s and 19x9.5s right now. Flaring the fenders out more isnt a problem to, is I dont want these rims sticking out over a foot as the shop has told me it will. The car is a show car, but it sees daily duty for about 6 months of the year.

The right now is under a complete rebuild, but these are the rims I have my eye on.

The car its going on. Mind you the car is stripped of the graphics now,tons of body work is being done, making it a super clean car now.

First why 20-22? Thats just????

But aside from criticizing, the shop probably dont want you to grind down the studs. You dont need it that thick, just drill holes in the wheels to fit the bolts on the adapters or grind down your studs.

Dont go to the shop. Plain and simple. Get the adapters and do it yourself.

And if pulling the fenders more is easy, why does it matter how much more wide your gunna sit?

With even a 20mm adapter that wide of a wheel is gunna stick out far on that car!

Whats the stock offset? +60?

I would find a nicer set of wheels. Ones with a center cap covering the studs. Those can be re-drilled and look clean. Then you dont have to worry about the extra width a adapter will bring.

Hmmmm, 20 and 22s, dont know about that, dont mind the actual wheels at all, its cool that youre trying something different but these might not fit your car since theyre pretty wide, you should try 4 fronts first, those wheels are not form a X6 M but for a normal X6 and if theyre OEM they only come in 20" and 21" fronts are 10 wide, rears are 11.5 so yeah

Replicas do come in 22", but again would do 4 20x9.5 reps see if they fit

Wont it be overkill? I mean those are FWD cars and the rear is gunna be way bigger than the front cause you will most likely go with a 25-35 tops up front. What series will you use in the back?

I agree with at least 4 fronts. But I still think you should do more looking for a wheel that you can re-drill.

well see the thing is im already running staggered rims right now, I like the look, even thou i know its a fwd car, im more about the look then anything. My rear rims are 9.5 but i wanted to go wider and bigger.

As for the shop, the trying to sell me on some $5000 D'vinci wheels but its not want i want, I really like the style of these wheels. I guess im going to half to get a wheel and put it on the car to see how it sits

As for the me just pulling the fender out alot, its easy for me, but after this shop told me it will stick out over a foot, im just really confused now. If the wheel has a +40 offset, say the adapter is an inch thick, and the rim is 11 inchs wide, how far from the hub will the wheel extend to the outside? im trying to get a visualization on the how far it will stick out.

im going to try and get a 22 and 20 inch to sit up on my car to see if you guys are right on the 22 being to big. But my only problem is i still have 2 weeks until the car gets on the road, so i need the car on the road to check the wheels out, and its still a while away.

We need to know whats the stock offset of your car, the higher, the better chances at making these work on your car maybe even a staggered setup with rubberband tires, with the smallest adapters available 15mm

its +47 on stock, just looked it up

So et47 with et40 wheels with 15mm adapter = et25, theres is room to play

What are the specs of your current wheels and tires so I can calculate how much more they will stick out and also see what size tire might work here

et is on the back of the wheels, can also look it up online by wheel make, also need the tire sizes youre running
