  • E46 Tyre help

got as 99 sedan e46 as pic below.

the E39 style 32's are about to come back from the powder coater so i need to sort rubber.

    I'm thinking

    205/40x17 front on 8j et 20
    215/40x17 rear on 9j et 26

are these any good or are they weak sauce?

(i did think of running 195/40 front and 205/40 rear but the stretch on tyrestretch.com looks a bit to mad - car does weigh 1500kgs or so)

what are others out there running E46's on similar size wheels running??

I am running 215/40/18 on my car..
    I got stock e46 m3 wheels.. fronts 8" and rear 9"
    I like the look of a 215/40 on a 9" .. Alittle weak on the 8" wheel..
I am looking for a smaller size on the fronts.. But here is a shot of the 215/40 on a 9.
also here is a shot of the 215/40 on the 8"s.. I would go for a 205 on a 8...
    215 on 9 is a good stretch.. .

are you going to run spacers? if not then there is no point in stretching tires.

          hahaha.

          good point.

i'll run whatever is required to get the rims flush.

i want to run a bit of stretch to guarantee that flush look but don't want to have silly stretch that means i can't corner without the rim hitting the floor etc

plus this is my first ever build of a car with wideish rims/stretched tyres and low ride - previous vw's have always had tuck and slam air cooled look going on
and while spacers are cheap to play with - tyres are not so i want to get it right first time.

there seems to be loads of E36 info on et's and width on here but the e46 guys are keeping things closer to the chest!!
