  • bbs style 5 questions...

ok so i was under the impression that the "style 5" bbs's were off of the bmw 5 series and only offered in 17's with a 8 width. but on here ive seen some that are 18's and a 8/9 staggered width. and 18's are exactly what i would want. so are the 18 actually bbs's or some reproduction? and whats your thoughts on re-drilling? never done it. i would have to go to a 5x114.3. so in a nut shell i want to get some seiries 5's that are 18x8,9's that i will want to go on a 5x114 bolt pattern. i would probably want to space them out to a 18x 9,10 width. whats your thoughts? thanks

They come in 17x8 and 9 and 18x8 and 9. You can't space them out to be different widths

Good luck trying to find a set of staggered 18in style 5s. Too pricey for a OEM set of wheels IMO.

The staggered 18' came on the 7series and the 17's non staggered came on the 5 series. The 18's r rare to fins and when you do theyll cost a pretty penny. Also on the redrilling I have had friends do it and if not done right(old hole filled properly and new ones drilled) it can be catastrophic. Ive seen wheels that have been redrilled without filling the old holes literally shatter on the highway... Just be careful when redrilling.

so i should probably get adapters to go to 5x114.3...

You can get adaptors, but they're going to be thick. Style 5s are already in the low offsets so if you get adaptors you will probably be in the single digits or possibly negative offset.

i'm thinking something similar for my merc.
would want the 17x8's - what offset were these? ideally i'd need them to be mid 30's....
i assume welding and re-drilling, if done right, is cool?

                thanks

Good man Shawn, I was searching some 18" style 5 the other day too. Wanna go full polish/black BBS caps. Never knew they came in a staggered setup too. Thanks for chiming in on that. All I've come across were the 18x8. My issue is my 5x112, possible center bore too - havn't got there yet. They'de be fresh on your van for sure.
EDiT: just searched 5x120-5x112 adapters for $180 and a set off a 7 series on e ghey for a grand. key word search. LoL.
