wheel lug size for OZ Futura

The easiest way to go about it, is to think logical.
Take your stock wheels off the car, put one lug through it, and measure how much it sticks out.
Then you order some conical lugs that will stick out the same. Remembering to get the correct pitch.-

You need to run what the wheel requires. If the wheel is conical seat, then you need conical wheel bolts. You're going to have to go aftermarket on the wheel bolts. If you run ball seat on conical seat wheels then you run the risk of them coming loose.Originally posted by miostile View PostI've been researching and have an email into OZ. Stock wheels for the B7 Audi S4 use ball seats 14x1.5x27mm for 18x8 ET43. But it seems like most aftermarket wheels run conical.
Do you know the correct lug bolts to run?
As far as length, if you are not using a spacer then stock length should be okay. Rule of thumb is you need at least 5 full turns for it to be safe.

Thanks for the replies. Is there a bonafide way to determine conical vs ball (seems like they're close enough in shape that the naked eye might play some tricks)?Originally posted by Tuck&Poke View PostYou need to run what the wheel requires. Almost every single aftermarket wheel is conical. In the past what I've done is smeared something like antiseize or grease on the seat in the wheel, and then placed a bolt in there and give it a little turn. The grease is gonna smear where the bolt and seat make contact. If you use a ball seat on a conical wheel you see a thin line where they make contact, whereas if you use a conical bolt in a conical seat, nearly all of the surface will smear.Originally posted by miostile View PostThanks for the replies. On that note, I have yet to come across an aftermarket wheel with a ball seat. Not saying it doesn't exist but it's rare and I haven't encountered one.

STOP WITH YOUR LOGIC!Originally posted by Zic View PostThe easiest way to go about it, is to think logical.

OP, its very easy to determine seat. Look at the f'ing seat of the bolts and your wheel, do they match? People always have a problem with this, but visually there is a clear difference.

How exactly can you tell? - it seems like a ball and conical seat on the wheel would look pretty similar. I've never seen the two next to each other before.Originally posted by electricalbox View PostSTOP WITH YOUR LOGIC!

I appreciate the help! See, I knew I didn't trust it. I emailed OZ, which referred me to a large tire seller, and they said to purchase ball seat lugs. And I just didn't trust it.Originally posted by Zic View PostI know that. Thats why I said he should buy conicals since all futuras runnl conical nut lugs.

I wouldn't necessarily trust that stock bolts will be the right length, since the backpad of Futuras are very likely to be different than his stock wheels. They certainly weren't for me - I tried it not knowing what I was doing on my MAEs, and just about fucked the threads in my hubs by threading them in too far, since the backpad is so much thinner than the stock 15s.Originally posted by pDubs View PostThey are conical. Run stock length wheel bolts unless you are running spacers.
Best way is to do what Zic says. Stick stock bolt through stock wheel, measure how much it sticks out. Stick stock bolt through Futura, measure how much it sticks out. Order conical bolts of a length such that they will thread into the hub the same amount as stock wheels / lugs.
EDIT: Also, if you're looking for affordable lugs, I got mine from Otis LA. No affiliation, but they're better quality and way cheaper than the auto parts store.
