What tire?

Hi Everyone,

I'm currently rolling on 17" wheels with 205/40/17 tires on my '99 A4 B5 1.8T. A local tire dealer recently told me that the best tire for my size car (midsize sedan) is 225/45/17. Is this true? Does it really matter what size tire you have depending on the car? What do ya'll think?

Let me know what you guys rollin' on and how it works for you? You guys are after all the tire experts!

I assume you have 8.5j or 8j 17's??? It really depends on what you want to do with your wheels, stretching helps if you want to go low or have a bit of poke and help's stop your tyre from rubbing.

Tyre shops will always say what the 'recommended' width tyre that you should run and some tyre shops are even a bit scared and won't fit stretched tyres for you but as long as you can find one who will do it...do it

This would look nicer IMO, a little stretch but smaller wall on an 8.5j....
