How to remove to thin plastidip?

Hey guys,

has anyone have this problem before, normaly it should peel of like vinyl but

i think they only sparyed on layer...

I have two borbet type a which are painted with that stuff, but i can't get it off...

I tried WD40, brakecleaner and a big presure washer, this is how far i got:




I placed the jet on the rim, nothing...

I don't want to try something aggressive, they're almost like new underneath...

Have you tried the gel or spray on paint remover? It doesn't damage chrome, I don't know about polish. Easy Off oven cleaner may work as well.

Grab a can or two and lay on a couple thick coats. That should let you peel it off.

No haven't tried that but i'll try the over cleaner this weekend.

I don't know how strong the original borbet paint is, if the oven clean doesn't do anything
i'll try paint remover...

Is it chrome under there? If it's polished aluminum, I'd be very cautious about oven cleaner - sodium hydroxide reacts readily with aluminum, and will leave pits in the surface.

EDIT: This is probably a stupid idea, since that's mostly the kind of ideas I have, but have you thought about spraying more PlastiDip on the surface? If it'll stick to the existing layer, it might peel off in a sheet.

WD40.

Is works 99% of the time on thin plastidip. Just spray it on and let it sit for like 5 minutes, then start wiping.

I don't think it will damage the paint at all.

Same as WD40. Let sit for a few minutes and it wipes right off.

Sorry for bumping such an old thread but what type of pressure washer do you use for such a purpose? If I am going to buy a new one, which flow rate is better?
