  • ROYALLY ROYALLY f*cking f*cked

This is the message i sent the advertiser that i bought these spacers from:

well, i just thought you guys should know that your spacers have royally, royally screwed me.

i have a big show to go to on saturday, and roll in is tomorrow/today/friday.

i spent the past week washing, clay barring, waxing, vaccuming, polishing, modding, fixing my car to mint condition for this show.

I bought some spacers from you guys a couple months ago. but havnt gotten a chance to install them until last night.

I figured since i would need to buy extended bolts anyways, i might as well get a stud conversion.

so last night i installed my stud conversion for the show, and excitedly went to test out the spacers...
so i put them on, and it looks great, but its poking too much so I decide i'll take them out and deal with the rubbing after the show...

BUT... the ****ing spacer is stuck!!!
because the holes for the bolts are such a snug fit, theres no damn way to get the spacer off!!!!!

i tried everything, ive pretty much torn up the spacers but they havent budged a millimeter, or anywhere enough to stick something in to pry them off... and i cant take the studs off because theyre locktite'd in.

so basically, instead of a design like this:

which gives you plenty of space around where the studs go, so that the spacer wont get jammed and gives you wiggle room to pry the spacers out....
the lug holes are too damn cramped..

anyways, i guess thats not exactly your fault, because lots of spacers are designed that way....

    BUT THIS IS!

So i spend the next probably.... 8 hours, until now... 4 am, shaving my fender lining, rolling my fenders, doing whatever I can to get the rubbing to a minimum so i can at least roll to the show.

just when im about done... i take a look at my wheel while its rolling and its WOBBLING....

THIS IS BECAUSE MY WHEELS CANNOT SEAT ALL THE WAY DOWN ON YOUR "HUBCENTRIC" SPACERS.

What kind of design is this "STEP" pattern for the hub??
my wheel seats fine over the smaller part, but cant seat over the larger diameter hub

Basically my wheel has a good 4mm or so space between the wheel and spacer....

so the wheel cannot seat properly, and even after lug nuts are put on and tightened, the wheel wobbles.

SO what the hell am i supposed to do now?
I cant get the spacers off
I cant drive with them on.

my car has turned into a giant paper weight.
$50 entry fee for the show gone to waste
    $50 for spacers wasted
$xxx for whatever tools im going to have to buy to tear or cut the spacer off

please email me at jasontung.8p@gmail.com if you have any suggestions or solutions or help to make this right for me.
But heres a pic with the spacers on....

If it wasnt for the extra 4mm or so the spacers are pushing my wheels out due to the retarded hub design.. it would be perfectly flush with no rub...........
    FUCKING SIGH

looks like they tried to save some manufacturing costs by doing sort of a "step up" design with the center of the spacer...it should come to the edge more like a cone...take a look at my actual hubcentric 17mm FK spacers:

your wheel could probably clear it id they made it a smoother transition like that...shitty.

question though, how did you get the spacer over the studs?

      That fucking blows bro.
How did you get it on there though? I mean if its that tight. None the less that blows. Hope you find a way to get them off.

Just so you know, the ECS spacers have a lip design just like the Euroimage ones. This is surprising bc I know a good amount of people running these with zero problems

Well I can look at that spacer and tell you who ever designed it did it badly, it sounds like a bad copy of the ECS spacers. They leave the lip so the recess on the backside of the spacer can fit over the hub of more cars. but it ends up working with less wheels due to the required added material to the face.

As to you waiting till the day before the show to test fit? "I bought some spacers from you guys a couple months ago" I hardly see where that part is their fault, unfortunate yes but had you test fitted them when you got them I doubt you would be missing your show.

A sharp chisel on an air hammer should pop it right off. Another option is to have the wheels bored out to fit over the spacer which would make for a perfect fit.

If your still looking for spacers you can PM me and I can get you a different company that I use and like.

Wait, so you want the design of a universal non hubcentric spacer instead of a hubcentric spacer?

I am kind of affiliated with Euro Image Tuning (I have parts they sell for me), and I'm pretty sure the "step up" spacers are for STOCK OEM VW/AUDI wheels only, not aftermarket as the bore is flat (as you know).

If you would like me to contact Kevin for you, I will be more than happy to and try to resolve this issue. Kevin can make custom spacers (I have them for my RSs with a 60.1mm bore) and I'm sure will be willing to work something out.

BTW, a ton of people run these (including EIT themselves) without any issues. If there is an unknown issue I am overlooking, please correct me.

Just remove the studs... and return the spacers. Let me know if you need one that will work for your car

This all makes much more sense now, I forgot the VWs went to the odd step up bore on their wheels.

                  Carry on.

Maybe the stud conversion has to do with the spacer not coming off?

i know it probably most because of the studs...

i used loctite because thats what was suggested to me by some people and this DIY thread....

as well as this one... http://www.track-studs.com/ProductInfo/stud_install.cfm
and it was red....... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

plus the studs have no allen key since they are "race" studs, so i have to do it like this:

but that doesnt work very well if the studs are on tight... the just slip off......
                      FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

im considering using a slide hammer, but have no idea where to get one, and have never used one before

                        Breathe. . .

                        Now,

Tighten the two lugs together (against one another) as tight as possible then use the innermost nut and a wrench to remove the stud. working some heat into the assembly from a torch will not only help with the locktight it will also aid in the removal of the spacer as the aluminum(spacer) will expand at a different rate than the steel(hub).

slide hammer would be hard to use on the spacers without drilling into them, and if youre gonna go drillng route, might as well grap the ol' zip disc and cut the spacer intosections, to free it.

but fdont cut into your hub, i bet one cut or two on the spacer would be enough vibration at least to work it free
